Butternut squash soup is what I hope to make tomorrow with fresh thinly sliced Ginger. There is another recipe with Butternut Squash and Sliced Fennel,
I have not tried that one. I make all soups in my now 20 year old "Instant Pot",
also using Chicken broth instead of water. The Pot makes amazing stews of
all kinds and saves hours of cooking in the oven, especially now that I am alone.
There is nothing quite as good as homemade hot soup on a cold winter day !
Forget about donuts, they are not made Gluten or Lactose free ! It was in 1963
after returning to Canada , there was an amazing donut store in West Ottawa ;
where they made fancy donuts with centers full of whipped cream and tiny
chocolats, plus all kinds of unusual rich fillings. It was the actual dough that I
realised I could not eat wheat or dark brown bread, remembering my Father
who never had a sandwich and the only cake he would eat was always made
with rich fruits,eggs and cornstarch ! When he was born in 1883, he had to
be fed with Ass's milk; during the 2nd W War all children up until age 16 had
to drink 1/4 pint of milk every morning at school; cycling home for lunch my
Tummy ached and felt like a hard balloon, I was told a few years later, that I
asked "Did Daddy have milk in his tea ?" of course the answer was "No"
