Hi Bill,

Just to let you know that Heather Sheffield passed on September 13,, aged 79,
after a short but courageous battle with cancer.

On Thursday evening after the Annual Condo meeting, I attended Gamble's Funeral Home for the
visitation. There was a slow moving, long line up. I am grateful that I went as I reconnected with
their middle daughter, Sarah, also Emily who came to Graham's birthday parties from aged 5, for
for several years.  Heather was a good friend of mine, who in1998 finally managed to persuade me
to become President of the Almonte Hospital Auxiliary.  That was the beginning of 10 years of hospitals;
Not only Almonte but eventually as Chairman of Eastern Ontario's 28 hospitals, which I discovered
was the largest area in the whole of Ontario , all at the same time!  I was asked to continue with
Ontario for another 5 years, ending as head of the Province.   Unfortunately my children's Father
became ill, so I refused those final  5 years.
Heather and I kept in touch whenever we could as she also worked.

On Friday morning I attended Heather's funeral service at St.Paul's.  Alan gave a delightful Eulogy,
also sad at times when he had to stop talking.  Sarah also tried to start her Eulogy but the tears
were too much for several minutes. however she spoke lovingly and extremely well for all the Family.
The church was absolutely full. Rev: Jonathon Kouri produced an excellent service.

May Dear Heather rest in peace.
