It will be quite the learning experience, but a long time to wait, if you have the patience! Whoever previously parked in my now space, had the 240 volts attached to the wall, but only used it for a short time before they sold the apartment. It is still there and can be used again, when they have an Ottawa River Power account.
I remember that the whole of the British Isles's electricity is 240 volts; mainly because in my Mother's last few months of living alone in Dorset, she would phone me in the middle of our night, to ask how to turn on her electric stove. I had to explain that she has "That very large black plug over the top of the stove and pull the handle down" when the light comes on, then you can use whatever section of the stove you need. After that happened a few times, I knew the lovely 17th century cottage had to be sold and bring her to Canada. As you must remember, sadly Alzheimer soon progressed.
